| Staff
reviews the test results and formulates a treatment plan.
A conference is then held with the child's parents. If it
is determined that the child's disability can be corrected,
he or she is accepted into an individualized program. Parent
observation is mandatory in the case of young children. Counseling
is available through the Parent Support Group. |

A
trusting relationship is established with children who see
the therapist on a one-to-one basis several times a week.
Direct therapy focuses on the improvement of the communication
disorder and ultimately the life-style of the family. A therapist
may be working on behavior change, speech intelligibility,
word finding activities, reading (decoding and comprehension),
writing, and /or auditory understanding. |
