Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program There is a serious shortage of speech-language pathologists nationally which has impacted the delivery of services. Therefore, a new 2-year program to train Speech-Language Pathology Assistants is set to begin this Fall at Santa Rosa Junior College in conjunction with San Joaquin Delta College. The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program, leading to an Associate degree, will prepare graduates to work under the supervision of a licensed, credentialed or certified speech-language pathologist at special education sites, community agencies, health care facilities and private clinics. Students will be trained to assist in the speech and language rehabilitation of communication disordered children and adults. The Executive Director of our Children’s Language Center, Dr. John M. Samples, is responsible for bringing this program to the Santa Rosa Junior College. Classes will be held in the Race Health Sciences Building. The Children’s Language Center at Santa Rosa Scottish Rite Center will be one of the intern sites for the new program. |
